The student community Magpie Bridge, which has hosted dating events before, successfully proposed the ‘love course’. Cony Ying, supervisor of Magpie Bridge, explained the course aims to provide a platform for students to talk about love and dating, also sharpen language expression and people skills. She added: “If our students put the theories into use and find a partner at the end of the year, we can give them full marks.”

Q: What is your opinion towards the course and do you find it practical?

A : “Giving full marks to someone who succeeds into romantic relationship is not fair. Students can cheat by telling a lie that he has a partner. It is not objective.”

Wong Sze Lin, a parent whose child studies in University.

A : “If my child needs to study the course with students, why not from parents? Although this helps enhance their confidence and promote how to communicate with others, it should not be a course but an activity. There are no students when it comes to relationship.”

A : “What is the basis of the outcomes on this course? Should it teach only the concept of dating without marriage? For those who try their best in class but with no partners, should they be graded? The course has so many concerns for me.”

A : “The course sounds interesting. If the course can be more focus on theory part, like any key concept about communicating with the opposite sex, this would be more academical.

A : “It is not nesssary to start a love course as it is impractical in reality. We change our mindset as we get older. The course doesn’t help me to get equipped for future work. Moreover, it is ridiculous that give full marks for those who have a partner, as love is not aimed for grading.
